Marsha Jackson | Executive Director

Marsha Jackson is an environmental activist who loves her family, church, animals, children, seniors, clean air, and the community.

In addition to serving as the executive director of Southern Sector Rising, Marsha lends her expertise to a variety of executive committees. In 2019 was the recipient of the Sierra Club Environmentalist Award, in 2020 she received the SMU Women in Profiles Award, the Juanita Craft Humanitarian Award, as well as the Green Source DFW Leadership Environmental Award. Marsha was featured in Soledad O’Brien’s BET Documentary, "Disrupt and Dismantled” and thanks to a Proclamation from the Dallas County Commissioners she celebrates “Marsha Jackson Day” on her birthday (February 22) every year.

Marsha holds a master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources, a graduate HRM certificate, a bachelor’s in Business with a concentration in Management, and is currently pursuing her doctorate in Public Administration.

Allen McGill | Board Chair

Allen McGill is retired, but retirement allows him more time for his passion - advocacy and equity for African Americans, low-income residents, and neighborhoods.

In addition to serving as the co-chair of Southern Sector Rising, Allen chairs the Lane Plating Community Advisory Group for a Superfund Site in Southeast Oak Cliff.

When asked what he contributes to these organizations Allen shares, “I listen and amplify the voices on the frontline of racism and polluted neighborhoods and act as an effective advocate for change with residents.”

Allen enjoys traveling along the Gulf from Texas to Key West.
