The inaugural Southern Sector Rising Juneteenth in Sandbranch brought together residents, public officials, and community organizations for food, fun and fellowship. The afternoon was spent honoring the legacy of the Freedmen’s Town and celebrating Black Texans’ emancipation from enslavement.
