Ed Chalupa | Shingle Mountain
Environmental racism can be found throughout the United States. Several months ago I visited Marsha Jackson, a Dallas resident who has been at odds with the City of Dallas for the illegal dumping of shingles in her backyard.
After three years of media, protesting, doctor’s visits and more, Marsha has finally moved that mountain. This project is one that I have cared deeply about because I think it is representative of a problem the world has a whole. How we should simply respect one another no matter where we live. Ms. Jackson says it perfectly, “I care about people, just because they aren’t in my neighborhood, that doesnt make any difference to me, that they’re still human.”
